During the tournament period, which maybe of one day or more, the arbiters are involved in ensuring smooth and fair play for all participants. At the end, they display the final rankings for that tournament which determines the outcome of the winners.

3. Monitoring behavior: The arbiter ensures that players behave appropriately during the game. This includes enforcing rules against cheating and unsportsmanlike conduct.

4. Pairings: Arbiters are responsible for doing pairings that determine who plays against whom and also they are responsible for recording the final result of the game played & much more.

The above stated are only a few things that a chess arbiter does. We must also note that, it is equally a player's responsibility to follow the rules and conduct properly during the game tenure. This includes relaying their final results of every round to the arbiter once the match ends.
